From the Desk of the President
Greeting's Fellowmen, Sister's and Visitors,
Welcome to the Newly Relaunched Charlotte Graduate Chapter of Groove
Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc's. Website.
As your newly elected President I want you to take the opportunity to explore
the excitement, pride and glory of this most esteemed Organization. Our
mission in Charlotte, NC is to keep the mass communities engaged in not
only the struggles and plights of the Black Collegiate male but also of the
entire community as a whole. As an Organization deeply rooted within the
Civil-Rights era our roots run deep to our original founding in 1962.
We are a proud Chapter of an even prouder Organization and as we raise
the consciousness of not only the educated community we never want to
forget those that were not as fortunate to obtain a higher education as we
are all in this race "together." The chapter has made great strides in the city
as we have representation in all fields in Charlotte from Politics and
Professional Sports to Academia and the pulpit.
Our major initiative that we took on this year was hunger as no one should
have to go to sleep hungry in this great city of ours. Our other main initiative
was our Junior Groover's Coalition/Troop 1962 which takes on the premise
of "if you teach a man to fish....". We are teaching these young men the
tools that they will definitely need in life and also teaching them to
appreciate all of Nature's gifts. We also implemented the Groove Academy
"The Gents" at West Charlotte High School. The Groove Academy is a
Nationwide Mentoring project in which we partner with Juniors and Seniors in
HS as to get them ready for College and beyond.
I would like to personally thank you for checking out the re-launch of new
and improved site. This site will be more interactive and will definitely give
you a better understanding about us as members the Fellowship and the
Charlotte Graduate Chapter. So enjoy the site and please provide any
feedback that you can to help us improve.
